Manjushri Buddhist Meditation Centre in Milton hosts us for a one-day focus on three of the core modules required for accreditation as a Special Religious Education Teacher. These are Values and Life Skills, Classroom Management and Resources and Lesson Planning. The training also incorporates ongoing skills development for current SRE teachers, necessary to maintain accreditation. It is also possible to join the training on ZOOM.
Program:
9am Welcome
9.10am Values and Life Skills – Discover the Buddhist Council SRE curriculum and our emphasis on imparting values and life skills to young people. Gain an understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
10.30am Short break
10.45am Classroom Management – How to manage challenging behaviours in ways that align with Buddhist values and prioritise the wellbeing of young people.
12.30pm Lunch
1.15pm Resources and Lesson Planning – Learn how to build the structure of your lessons, implement effective teaching methods and gather useful resources.
3pm Conclusion
