Ven. Watāgoda Maggavihāri will explore the 4 Idhipada (bases of spiritual power): wholesome desire, mind, effort, and investigation.
Among the 37 Bodhipakkhiya Dhammas that support the realization of Bodhi, there are four dhammas known as “Iddhipāda” (Means of Accomplishment) that are often overlooked in broad-appeal Dhamma talks. Often overshadowed by their more popular counterparts, like the “Satipatthāna and Bojjhaṅga,” the Iddhipādas remain hidden gems within the Buddha’s teachings. However, these four means of accomplishment form the backbone of every successful endeavor, whether mundane office tasks or spiritual pursuits.
Ven. Maggavihāri Thero, with his knowledge of Buddhist scriptures, will illuminate these four hidden pearls and reveal their significance in achieving both mundane and supramundane accomplishments.

The Lotus Sutra’s story of the Naga Princess—an 8yo snake-girl who attains Buddhahood in an instant—challenges our assumptions about enlightenment: Who is worthy? What is possible? And how does transformation really happen? Let’s explore her radical story, against the disbelief of others, and what it can mean for personal and social transformation.

If every being has been our mother in a past life, how would that impact our relationship with animals, the realm closest to humans, and our daily choices? Drawing on the Brahma’s Net and Lankavatara Sutras, we’ll bridge the gap between intellectual compassion and visceral empathy. Through contemplation and discussion, we’ll ask: How do we turn kinship from a mental exercise into a lived ethic? How might a bodhisattva fulfill vows with each spoonful of food?
*This will include a photo & visualization contemplation of birth, death, and animals which may be confronting.

We all carry stories—about who we are, where we’ve been, and what our lives mean. In this engaging and reflective talk, Venerable Hue Can invites us to look closely at the narratives we carry: stories of identity, success, failure, and meaning. Drawing from Buddhist wisdom and her own journey as a monastic, Venerable will open a space for inquiry into how these life stories arise and what they reflect. How can awareness of these stories lead to deeper understanding and presence?
