Why Join VegRun?

More than just a run, VegRun is a meaningful community event where every step becomes a simple act of kindness. This year, we run for peace, run for happiness, and take steps together to plant seeds of peace and hope in our community.

Co-organised by the Hsing Yun Education Foundation and the Buddhist Council of NSW, Sydney VegRun offers an opportunity to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Buddha’s Birthday Festival while supporting causes that make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and children.

Supporting Local Charities

Proceeds from VegRun 2026 will support batyr and PAL Buddhist School.

batyr is a leading Australian organisation dedicated to supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Through education, storytelling, and peer-led programs, batyr encourages open conversations, reduces stigma, and empowers young people to seek help and build resilience.

PAL Buddhist School is a values-based school that supports the holistic development of children through education grounded in compassion, mindfulness, respect, and inner growth. Its work helps nurture wise, caring, and socially responsible young people.

Together, these two beneficiaries reflect the deeper purpose of VegRun 2026: supporting both youth mental health and children’s education as foundations for a more peaceful and hopeful future.
