Rigpa Australia warmly invites you to join our national Easter retreat: The Key to Living and Dying: Reflections on Impermanence.

What a beautiful and what a healing mystery it is that from contemplating, continually and fearlessly, the truth of change and impermanence, we come slowly to find ourselves face to face, in gratitude and joy, with the truth of the changeless, with the truth of the deathless, unending nature of mind!

Drawing on the deep experience of some of Rigpa Australia’s longest-serving instructors and teachings by Sogyal Rinpoche, this four day retreat offers you the time and space to:

  • Closely investigate your own attitude to death, dying and how that informs your own life here and now;
  • Nurture your compassion in caring for those around you; and
  • Find inspiration in the clarity and radiant view of your own sky-like nature of mind.
As Milarepa wrote:

‘In horror of death, I took to the mountains-
Again and again I meditated on the uncertainty of the hour of death,
Capturing the fortress of the deathless unending nature of mind.
Now all fear of death is over and done.‘

As preparation for this retreat, we recommend you read the first three chapters of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.

The retreat will run:

from 8.30 am on Friday 2 April
until 5.30 pm on Monday 5 April.

We will not be offering partial attendance. Each teaching session and supporting program builds on the previous session. In establishing the commitment and discipline of retreat, we create an environment that supports the transformation of our mind and heart.

Based on the current COVID public health rules, for those living in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney we strongly encourage you to attend at your Rigpa city centre.

The retreat will be streamed for those who are unable to get to a centre or whose local centre has reached capacity. You will be able to join as an individual but if at all possible, we strongly encourage you to meet together with other students to watch the teachings and practice together.
