Mundane or worldly concerns are things we think we must have in order to be happy, over and above our basic needs for survival. Many of them turn out to be misguided ideas that lead to greater anguish and anxiety, instead of peace, joy, and contentment. In this workshop, we look closely at the classic eight mundane concerns of pleasure/pain, material gains/losses, praise/blame, and having others’ good/bad opinions (or fame/disrepute). We will discern for ourselves whether it is possible to find genuine satisfaction apart from these eight and drop the burden that is weighing us down.
