When Buddha himself was asked to summarize his teaching, he said;
Commit not a single unwholesome action,
Cultivate a wealth of virtue,
To tame this mind of ours,
This is the teaching of all the buddhas.
From the Tibetan point of view, the Buddha’s teachings can be classified into three progressive stages, or turnings of the wheel of the dharma, that are encapsulated by these four lines. They can also be essentialized as peace, compassion and wisdom.
In this talk, Marianne Gizycki (RIGPA Sydney) will provide an introduction to the Tibetan Buddhist approach to the Buddhist path as seen through these three key stages.
