Whether we find ourselves heading towards the next world war, or getting into physical fights, or an online battle infused with hate speech, or even verbal sparring with colleagues, friends or family, or simply the war that goes on in our mind, the Buddha has the antidote for all wars. In this session, we will look at what war means in the context of the Buddha’s teachings, the challenges of getting pulled into different kinds of wars (in body, speech and mind), and explore the Buddha’s antidote for all wars, which starts with the supramundane practice of loving kindness based on the Karaṇīyametta Sutta (Snp 1.8).
