The simple meditation of mindfulness of breathing can yield profound experiences and insights. It is very common for people to dismiss it as a beginner’s meditation when, in actual fact, the Buddha has presented mindfulness of breathing in 16 steps that cover the cultivation of both calm-abiding and special insight. In this workshop we will look at the details of these 16 steps and how we can apply them in our regular practice to calm our physical reactivities, settle our mental agitation, bring our mind to meditative absorption and develop penetrative insight into reality.
This workshop features several sessions of guided meditations with explanations and time for Q&A or discussion. All are welcome; no prerequisite needed.
