We will be exploring the apparent contradictions in the notion of Buddhist activism, with Buddhism encouraging reflection and focusing on the individual and how they experience their world, and activism which encourages action with a focus on systems and social justice.
We will explore the apparent conflicts between them and draw out the lessons which each has for the other. This will lead to a distinctive Buddhist form of activism which draws on the strength of each.
