The good news is that we can train the mind to be happy, and mindfulness meditation is a skill to help achieve that. This course teaches the practice of mindfulness as a skill. Operating interdependently, when we also train ourselves in other skilful qualities, such as generosity, non-harm and kindness, then our mindfulness will also be strengthened. Can mindfulness meditation really be developed as a ‘superpower’? You can find out by experientially testing it for yourself, but first you have to start.

If you’ve been curious to learn about mindfulness meditation, and also wish to develop your practice and understanding of Buddhist philosophy, come along to this course!

Teacher’s Profile

Theresa Baw has been a Buddhist practitioner of mindfulness meditation since 2001. She practices in the Mahasi Sayadaw tradition of mindfulness meditation. She has led regular group meditation sits for the Blue Mountains Insight Meditation Centre. Theresa works as a barrister and also teaches meditation to others in her chambers.

All Sessions are by Donation (Dana) to the Buddhist Library. All donations to the Buddhist Library of $2 and over are tax deductible.

Dana is the traditional practice of generosity, the extending of one’s goodwill, which is fundamental to Buddhism and other spiritual traditions. The instructions and guidance for this course are offered without requesting a fee and it is up to individuals to determine the amount of dana they would like to offer. It can sometimes be easy to become confused when we are new to this and we wonder “how much should I give?” This is a relevant question in the material economy but an appropriate dana cannot be prescribed but requires sensitivity to its intent and awareness of the costs and expenses associated with organising a course.
