The Kagyu Monlam is an auspicious prayer festival that celebrates the interconnectedness of all sentient beings in the world. This significant gathering provides an opportunity for Buddhist communities to come together and engage in mindful practices, learn about Buddhist wisdoms and connect with one another through our shared values of kindness and compassion.
Kyabje Bokar Khenchen Lodoe Thonyor Rinpoche, the head of the Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery in Mirik, will preside over this auspicious occasion and make heartfelt connections with the Buddhists communities in Australia.
The 4-day Monlam program will feature:
- Daily prayers and chanting from various Buddhist traditions from 8.00 am – 11.00 am.
- Dharma Talk/Buddhist Teaching.
- Creation and dissolution of a sacred sand mandala.
- Buddha relics for public viewing and veneration.
- Empowerment or blessing ceremony and Tsok (also known as Ganachakra or food) offerings.
- Marme Monlam [Offering of Lights / Lamp Prayer].
- Cultural performances in honour of the Triple Gems.
