Our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made Vesak in Parliament such a wonderful, harmonious event.
Our Parliamentary Hosts
We are honoured to be joined by our parliamentary hosts in acknowledging Vesak and its message of peace, compassion and harmony.

A Celebration of Community and Harmony
Vesak in Parliament brings together community, faith and public leadership to recognise the contribution of Buddhist communities to the multicultural life of New South Wales

Hon. Stephen Kamper MP
Minister for Multiculturalism

Hon. Mark Coure MP
Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism
The event, now held for its third consecutive year, was generously funded by Multicultural NSW and attended by NSW Parliamentary representatives from both Government and opposition, reflecting the broad recognition of the role that Buddhist communities play in the multicultural and multifaith fabric of New South Wales.
Former Chair of the Buddhist Council of NSW, Gawaine Powell Davies, said Vesak was also a reminder that compassion must be practised through action.
“After his enlightenment, the Buddha did not keep wisdom as a private achievement. He chose to teach for the benefit of others,” Mr Powell Davies said.
That remains one of the enduring messages of Vesak:
Wisdom is not fully realised without compassion, and compassion is not fully realised without action.”
